Unlike most conventional fertilisers, which are synthetic and chemically manufactured, Bio Marinus is a natural, nutrient-rich fertiliser that supports healthier soils, stronger plants, and healthier animals.
Produced through enzymatic hydrolysis of fish, it delivers a high-quality, cost-effective source of nutrition that optimises growth and performance. This unique low-temperature process helps preserve a wide range of nutrients, resulting in a complex fertiliser containing both macro- and micronutrients that are essential for healthy plant growth.
Sustainably made in New Zealand, Bio Marinus has been derived from a responsibly managed fishing resource under the NZ Quota Management System. The process makes full use of fish processing by-products, ensuring an environmentally responsible solution from start to finish.
“We're demonstrating how fish processing by-products can be transformed into a valuable resource," said Kyp Kotzikas, Bio Marinus.
"By converting what would otherwise be a waste product into a natural fertiliser, we're helping reduce environmental waste while giving farmers an effective way to improve soil and plant health, reduce reliance on synthetic chemicals, and lower farming costs."
Kotzikas further highlighted that biological fertilisers have played a vital role in improving soil health by supporting beneficial soil microorganisms, including nitrogen-fixing bacteria and mycorrhizal fungi. They also increase earthworm populations, improving soil structure and function.
“Customers are seeing increased earthworm populations, healthier soils, more productive pastures with significantly higher clover content, and healthier crops, while reducing their use of urea, insecticides, and fungicides.”
Additionally, increased biological activity and deeper root systems can improve nutrient availability and uptake, resulting in healthier plants and livestock.
