AUSTRALIA | Shopify has unveiled its Summer ‘25 Edition, Horizons, introducing several paradigm shifts across the Shopify platform that redefine how merchants build high-converting storefronts and how shoppers discover products.
Shopify’s Summer Edition encompasses over 150 product highlights across UX, Point of Sale (POS), Shop App, Payments, and AI. Its centrepiece is the introduction of Shopify’s new store design foundation, Horizon.
Blending beautiful aesthetics with powerful AI capabilities, Horizon empowers merchants to build stunning, high-converting storefronts without writing a single line of code.
“Merchants today need flexible, intuitive tools that work as hard as they do. Our latest Edition, Horizons, represents a step change in how our merchants can spend less time on tech and more time building their brands,” said Shaun Broughton, Managing Director, APAC at Shopify.
“These updates enhance their efficiency and customer engagement, while progressing toward our vision of ’declarative commerce’, where merchants can simply express their goals, and our system charts the optimal path forward. Through this shift, merchants can focus on innovation and strategic growth rather than time-consuming tasks.”
At the heart of this launch is Shopify’s new AI-powered store design foundation, Horizon. This foundation represents a leap forward in online store design, empowering merchants to build professional storefronts without the need for technical expertise.
Retailers will also find a powerful new suite of tools built to drive efficiency and performance, both online and in-store.
The Edition introduces a more personalised Shop app feed that improves product discoverability, upgrades to POS v10 to enable more customised displays and “Ship and Carry Out” fulfilment, support for multiple entities and multi-currency payouts in Shopify Payments, and an AI-powered Knowledge Base to optimise brand visibility across genAI platforms and AI shopping assistants.
Whether you are starting from scratch or not, AI Store Builder transforms a few simple keywords into three unique, ready-to-customise store designs.
Inputting a few descriptive keywords generates three store layouts with images and text. This feature significantly reduces the time and effort required to design a store from scratch, allowing merchants to focus on customisation and personalisation.
Shopify POS v10 has launched with a completely redesigned interface, built to make day-to-day selling faster, simpler, and more efficient. With a refreshed look and feel, intuitive navigation, and smarter search and cart functionality, retail staff can deliver more personalised service with less effort.
The Shop app is evolving its home feed to better connect merchants with high-intent buyers. As users interact with the Shop app, content dynamically updates to reflect their preferences, creating a deeply personalised shopping experience.
Shopify Payments has always been the easiest way for merchants to accept online and in-store payments. With powerful new capabilities, merchants can scale globally more efficiently, managing multiple entities and settling in multiple currencies, all from a single store.
Acting as “SEO for AI conversations”, Shopify’s new AI-powered Knowledge Base app enables merchants to optimise their presence to enhance discoverability by generating and customising store facts and FAQs that are readable by generative AI platforms and shopping assistants.
Developers can now build specialised AI shopping agents for individual brands with Storefront MCP, giving them the tools to create compelling shopping experiences that drive real business results.
Spanning AI, UX, POS, Shop App, and Payments, these updates introduce several paradigm shifts across the Shopify platform that redefine how merchants build high-converting storefronts and how shoppers discover products.
