AUSTRALIA | Woolworths has announced the opening of its first-ever Automated Customer Fulfilment Centre (CFC) in Auburn.
This centre will help increase online capacity for Western Sydney customers by 50 percent.
The 22,000-square-metre facility is equipped with cutting-edge technology from KNAPP and will handle up to 60,000 online orders every week. It houses over 30,000 products, offering customers more variety faster. It also features Australia's largest Direct to Boot offering with 16 bays, supporting the growing demand for online services.
Woolworths Group was pleased to be joined by Mayor of Cumberland City Council Ola Hamed, Federal Member for Reid Sally Sitou, and State Member for Auburn Lynda Voltz MP for the formal ribbon-cutting ceremony with Sally Copland, Woolworths’ Managing Director of eComX.
“Western Sydney is one of our largest and fastest growing eCommerce catchments, and we’re thrilled to be unlocking greater capacity for our customers with the opening of our first ever Automated CFC in Auburn,” said Copland.
Woolworths Group commenced building its first ever automated customer fulfilment centre to better serve the online grocery needs of Western Sydney customers in 2021.
The state-of-the-art 22,000 sqm CFC - equivalent to two times the size of Western Sydney Stadium.
Auburn CFC is tech-enabled but people-powered. With over 600 team members packing and distributing orders, Western Sydney customers can expect to experience a faster, more accurate, and more efficient online shopping experience.
