Pure Dairy Welcomes New CCO

Pure Dairy welcomes Andrew Wellington as CCO

AUSTRALIA | Pure Dairy has appointed Andrew Wellington as its Chief Commercial Officer.

With over 20 years of experience in the dairy and food-processing industries, Andrew Wellington has brought a wealth of expertise in operational leadership, market expansion, and supply chain optimisation.

His appointment comes at a pivotal time. Serving partners in 72 countries with end-to-end custom solutions, Pure Dairy has built a reputation as an international thought leader in dairy. As of 2025, it will pour its intellectual capital into its production facility.

Pure Dairy’s new, state-of-the-art $100M Victorian plant will give Australian businesses a competitive edge in the rapidly changing international market.

“Andrew has the breadth of experience and insights to consolidate the work of our multidisciplinary teams. Through our international offices and network of partners, we have real-time data on everything, and this requires a leader who can immediately see the big picture,” said Adrian Josephson, Executive Chairman of Pure Dairy.

“It’s key to being able to pivot - and we’re dealing with a very dynamic international market. For example, EU exports are currently hampered by the Red Sea shipping crisis, and tariff hikes in the US and China are on the horizon. There are some major opportunities coming up for quality Australian dairy, and I can’t wait to see where Andrew takes Pure Dairy.”

Wellington has been immersed in the dairy industry since his early childhood. Having grown up on a dairy farm in northern Victoria, he started his career driving milk tankers and then completed a cadetship with Murray Goulburn and studied Food Technology at Melbourne University.

Over the following years, Wellington has held leadership positions across the dairy sector in Australia and New Zealand.

At Open Country Cheese, he served as General Manager of Operations before it was rebranded as Open Country Dairy. He assumed the role of Group Projects Manager, heading national plant integration and capital projects.

At Thermaflo NZ, he served as Technical Director, specialising in plant design. Most recently, Wellington was the Chief Operating Officer at Union Dairy Company, where he managed large-scale operations focusing on driving efficiency and innovation.

“I’ve been privileged to learn about virtually every aspect of the dairy industry over the course of my career, so I’m incredibly inspired to now find myself in a place where I can put all this knowledge to use,” said Andrew Wellington, Chief Commercial Officer at Pure Dairy.

“With an international network of partners, big data and a multi-disciplinary team, Pure Dairy has a proven track record of capitalising on any opportunity. You can only imagine the potential as we open our very own production facility next year. I’m very glad to be here for it.”

The new facility, located in Dandenong South, will feature state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment, an R&D kitchen, logistics operations and the company’s corporate offices.

Designed to the highest global standards, the facility will strengthen Pure Dairy’s ability to deliver innovative solutions while maintaining its reputation for providing domestic and international partners with unbiased, data-driven insights.

“Andrew’s lifelong connection to the dairy industry and his passion for food, combined with his leadership skills and operational expertise, makes him an exceptional addition to our team,” added Josephson.

“As we prepare to launch our production facility and expand our global footprint in commodity trading and the food service industry, Andrew will play a key role in realising our ambitious plans. His appointment is yet another step in our commitment to driving innovation and excellence in global dairy.”
