NYC’s Digital Plant-based QSR

NYC's Digital Plant-based QSR
USA | NYC's Digital Plant-based QSR is a new restaurant concept on Park Avenue South from Restaurateur Steve Ells. This plant-based fast food establishment, called Kernel, is designed to be environmentally friendly and efficient.

With the help of automation, it employs a hub-and-spoke model that allows for a smaller footprint and less energy than a conventional restaurant. This enables the Kernel team to order each meal accurately and precisely, timed to the minute.

Kernel believes in making it easy for people to incorporate more plant-based food into their daily lives. The menu is designed to provide people with convenient, accessible, and delicious plant-based food options like Kernel Burger, Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Kernel Salad, Roasted Carrots, Crunchy Cucumbers, Marinated Beets, Crispy Potatoes, Chocolate Chunk Cookie, and Oatmeal Raisin Walnut Cookie.

Its digital ordering system allows customers to place orders from anywhere. Orders are fulfilled in the order received, and customers are assigned an exact pick-up time when they place their orders.

This accuracy is possible thanks to Kernel's re-engineered ordering and preparation process, which uses bespoke automation and technology to assist restaurant teams in preparing guest orders.

Once an order is ready for pick-up, guests receive a text or email notification. At Kernel, customers can use their mobile devices to unlock a secure, personalised cubby and retrieve their food.

The Kernel team is also committed to employee enrichment and offers compensation above industry norms, a comprehensive benefits package, flexible schedules, stock options, and ongoing seminars and education.

The first Kernel location was opened in Manhattan this February, with plans to expand across New York City in the first two years of operation.
