European food packaging and processing firm Tetra Pak has partnered with beverage company Elvir to introduce carton packaging featuring caps made from recycled polymers.
Named HeliCap 23, the sustainable screwcap is manufactured at Tetra Pak’s Châteaubriant plant in Loire-Atlantique, France. In addition to being easy to open, the one-step resealable cap features a ‘clearly visible’ tamper evidence ring.
The initiative is in keeping with both companies’ commitments to developing a circular economy.

“Together, we are contributing to making recycling more economically viable while addressing increasing consumer preference for responsible companies.”
Elvir is using the cap for products in its Elle & Vire range. This complements the brand’s cream product range, which uses Tetra Pak’s Tetra Brik Aseptic 1L Slim carton packages.

The HeliCap 23 cap is manufactured according to the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials’ (RSB) chain of custody procedure.
Tetra Pak is tracking the number of recycled materials used in its development throughout the supply chain. Last month, the company partnered with Tendring District Council in the UK to install its recycling banks at six different locations across the area.
The partnership is intended to expand Tetra Pak’s recycling point network in Tendring and encourage residents to dispose of their waste materials responsibly.
