AUSTRALIA | Bakers Delight has replaced rigid point-to-point integrations across its digital marketing systems as it prepares for a wider technology renewal in early 2027.
The Australian-owned bakery group operates more than 700 Bakers Delight and COBS Bread stores across Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States, with more than 10,000 people employed throughout its franchise network.
Its technology environment handles customer, product, pricing, promotion, location and order data across store, ecommerce and loyalty platforms.
Bakers Delight wanted an architecture that would allow new platforms to be introduced without having to re-engineer integrations each time another system was added.
Bakers Delight Chief Technology Officer Keng Ng said reducing implementation cost and complexity was a core requirement.

“We required a foundation that could support rapid, low-cost deployment of new systems, removing the cost and complexity of re-engineering integrations every time we added a new platform,” said Ng.
The company implemented Boomi Enterprise Platform capabilities including Data Hub and API Management across customer, product, store location, promotions, coupons and order processes.
Boomi now acts as the integration layer across Bakers Delight’s digital marketing systems, connecting new platforms without requiring major changes to core ERP and point-of-sale systems including Microsoft Dynamics 365 Commerce.
The reusable architecture was applied during subsequent implementations of Talon. One, Shopify and Klaviyo.
Bakers Delight said existing customer, product, pricing and location integrations could be reused for the Talon. One loyalty and promotions platform and Shopify ecommerce system.
Ng said the approach reduced deployment times, with Klaviyo going live in three months, Shopify in four months and Talon. One in nine months across the global franchise network.
“Because core integrations were built once and reused, every new platform was deployed significantly faster than expected,” said Ng.
The centralised integration and master data environment has also supported pricing changes across multiple systems.
Bakers Delight said that when geopolitical events in the Middle East created rapid cost fluctuations in early 2026, it was able to revise pricing quickly and consistently across its connected systems.
The company has built internal integration and data engineering capabilities, with Boomi Consulting supporting the initial programme and blueprinting process. Klaviyo and Talon. One supplied implementation resources, while external partners were used for Shopify and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Commerce.
“What started as a need to modernise quickly and affordably has become a platform that gets stronger with every addition, giving the business the agility to move faster and with more confidence each time,” said Ng.
The next stage will extend that integration across more of the organisation. Bakers Delight said the richer enterprise data generated through connected systems will provide groundwork for future AI and AI agent capabilities.
Boomi APJ Chief Technology Officer David Irecki said the Bakers Delight programme demonstrated the role integration could play in faster technology deployment and future data use.
“By building a reusable integration foundation, Bakers Delight can bring new digital capabilities to market faster while creating the trusted data foundation needed to support future innovation,” said Irecki.
