Second 0% Wine from Giesen

Following the success of its 0% – Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc selling out across New Zealand and Australia, Giesen is proud to introduce their second alcohol-free* wine, a crisp and refreshing Pinot Gris.

The Kiwi wine company has taken a giant leap and invested in innovative spinning cone technology so it can keep the 0% wines flowing and this brand-new addition is sure to be a hit.

Just like its sell-out alcohol-removed Sauvignon Blanc, Giesen has gone through all the steps to make a premium New Zealand Pinot Gris before gently removing the alcohol using spinning cone technology.

This alcohol-removed Pinot Gris features delicate floral notes with white flowers, lychee, and red apple on the nose. The palate offers traditional Pinot Gris characters of apple and pear with just a touch of muscat grape. Light, delicious, and balanced between acidity and sweetness.

This wine is being launched exclusively on Giesen’s online store in New Zealand.

With 40 years of winemaking expertise under their belts, the team at Giesen know how to make great quality wine as the starting point. They craft a premium full-strength New Zealand Pinot Gris wine, then use innovative spinning cone technology to distil it into three parts – aroma, alcohol, and body. The aroma and the body of the wine are collected and recombined to make sure they have a varietally-expressive end product.

This is a bit different to other options on the market that use less gentle vacuum distillation methods, or those that don’t involve creating a wine at all, but taking those extra steps are important to Giesen – it means they can make sure the final blend is as much like a real wine as possible.

*Giesen alcohol-removed wines contain no more than 0.5% alcohol by volume. This is about the same as what naturally occurs in fruit juice. This is the standard that no alcohol wines must meet to be considered non-alcoholic under New Zealand and Australian law.
