AUSTRALIA | Coopers Brewery will support growing beer sales with fewer truck journeys, thanks to a new partnership with Visy Logistics.
Visy Logistics has been selected as Coopers Brewery’s sole linehaul provider, managing more than 2,000 interstate freight movements annually from Adelaide to key markets including Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.
The partnership is anticipated to meet the same distribution network with six percent fewer truck movements each year, thanks to its long-term investment in new technology and assets.
“Coopers beer sales are growing right across Australia, and this partnership with Visy Logistics will help ensure our product continues to reach local bottleshops, pubs, clubs and the end consumer as efficiently and reliably as possible,” said Michael Shearer, Managing Director - Coopers Brewery.
Visy has invested in 32 new assets, including prime movers and B-double combinations, and created 17 new roles across South Australia, including experienced linehaul drivers, administrative and supervisory positions.
The national linehaul partnership includes:
- modern trailer configurations that safeguard product quality in all weather conditions
- enhanced safety technologies, including roll stability systems, guardian seeing machines, and retractable trailer stairs
- improved payload capacity, with 36-pallet trailer configurations replacing the standard 34-pallet equivalent, a six percent increase in product on every trip that reduces the number of journeys required
- Euro 6 prime movers that reduce fuel use by five percent compared with previous-generation Euro 5 vehicles
- rail and coastal shipping services into Western Australia, cutting transport emissions with fewer trucks and reducing the number of kilometres travelled.
