B Corp is a global movement that aims "to use business as a force for good". Today, there are close to 6000 certified B Corps in over 150 industries and 74 countries. Certification by B Corp involves measuring a company’s entire social and environmental performance with a focus on governance, workers, community, environment, and customers.
Manawa Honey NZ recently completed this challenging process and gained certification by B Corp.
Manawa Honey NZ wanted to become a ‘B Corp’ to gain recognition of all that it does for people and the environment in Ruatāhuna.
“We believe that customers need assurance against certain standards as to the social and environmental impact of a business. We also considered that B Corp was an excellent standard to pitch our business against because it has such a comprehensive framework for assessment of overall social and environmental impact,” the company said.
It joins only 200 companies certified by B Corp in New Zealand.
