Decisions Today on What’s Next for Auckland

Experts have urged the government to do more to fight COVID-19 after a further 83 new cases were reported on Sunday, the worst day of the Delta outbreak and one of the worst yet in the pandemic. 

The government will discuss the future of Auckland and Northland’s lockdown today.

As the country south of the Auckland border gears up to begin operating under Alert Level 3, epidemiologist Michael Baker has joined the growing chorus of experts cautioning about safe working environments.

Experts like Baker are calling for a redesign of the Alert system on the basis of controlling aerosols.This would include reviewing who is an essential worker, the environment they're working in and looking at ventilation and mask use.
