DB Breweries has appointed Matt Wilson as the new managing director, effective 1 January 2022. Wilson will succeed Peter Simons, who is moving on to a new role within the Heineken company.

Simons has been with the Heineken company for over three decades and led DB for the past four years, [delivering] positive financial growth. He is leaving behind an impressive legacy of customer centricity, innovation and focus on sustainability.

Wilson is currently DB's corporate affairs director and transformation lead, and has been with the Heineken company for 12 years. He joined DB in 2009 as legal counsel and served as corporate relations and legal director before heading overseas as corporate affairs director at Heineken Vietnam.

"I am honoured and thrilled to be taking over the reins at DB in the new year. From the guy that started in the legal team with DB back in 2009, it has been an incredible journey with The HEINEKEN Company and we are only just getting started.

There is a daunting but impressive legacy to follow from Morton Coutts through to the likes of Brian Blake and the big shoes Peter Simons will leave in terms of leading a company with such a great performance and also sustainability track record and ambition.

We have a great team ready to continue to bring the best adult beverages, brands and experiences to NZ consumers and help bring people back together at a time when social connection and fun has never more been in need," said Wilson in a LinkedIn post.
