Cookie Time Limited has acquired Em’s Power Cookies, effective 1 November 2021.

Cookie Time, an iconic family owned company, is home to much loved brands including flagship Cookie Time, and snack and functional food brands Bumper and OSM. Em’s Power Cookies will complement the existing product portfolio.

A boutique brand with predominant South Island distribution, Em’s Power Cookies was launched in 2004 by nutritionist and multisport champion Emily Miazga. Three times Coast to Coast World Multisport Longest Day champion, Miazga originally created her power cookies to support her sporting endeavours. Friends and family loved them, suggested she sell them, and the brand was born. Em’s now comprises a suite of cookies, bars and bites.

Guy Pope-Mayell, Cookie Time Managing Director noted that Em’s offers many synergies with the Cookie Time portfolio, from bakery processes through to product quality and purpose.

“Em’s are on trend products using real ingredients with no artificial colours or additives. They offer nutritious sustenance and energy to go, perfect for busy people who want to get a move on,” said Pope-Mayell.

“Emily has done a brilliant job building her brand to this point, and we’re delighted with the opportunity to now take it forward with our unique franchised distribution system, enhanced bakery capabilities, new product development and brand expertise’.”

Emily Miazga added that the time was right for her to pass the baton to Cookie Time.

“There’s been a ton of hard work and passion that’s gone into it and I’m really proud. But there’s only one of me, and I’ve done everything I can to grow Em’s to this point. My dream is to see it flourish and go to the next level and so I’m really excited to be handing over Em’s to Cookie Time,” she said.

“Cookie Time has a whole team of dedicated, professional and passionate people. They have the best capabilities, networks and power to really drive Em’s.”

Miazga will remain involved with Em’s in a brand ambassador role. As both Em’s and Cookie Time are privately owned companies, the sale price remains confidential. Going forward, all Em’s products will be made inhouse at Cookie Time’s bakery in Christchurch
